large scale landscape construction projects

Our Projects

Recoland has been operating since 1999.  Over the last 10 years the projects we do have grown in size and complexity, but our passion and our commitment to our clients to complete the works professionally has remained the same.

Following are a list of some of the projects we have proudly completed.

Weed Control projectsRecoland has performed over 120 contracts involving herbicide application, weed control and fuel reduction. We hold all relevant qualifications, operating licenses and operator permits, including ACUP

We also have strict occupational health and safety procedures in place to protect our staff and clients.

We own all the necessary equipment to carry out these works including a bobcat, 2 XX ton trucks with spraying equipement.

  • 2009 - Westgate Freeway
This project involved 12km of herbicide application, brush cutting, dead vegetation removal and coppicing, infill planting, and mulching. This project was completed on one of  the busiest stretches of road in the state. Dan and his works crew worked closely with our traffic management supplier to work out the safest outcomes to successfully deliver this project on time.

  • 2009 - Hoddle St/Eastern Freeway
This project involved 8km of herbicide application, brush cutting, dead vegetation removal and coppicing, infill planting and mulching.  Again this project had complicated traffic management issues.

  • 2009 - Wellington, North and Warrigal Rds
This project involved advanced tree installation and infill planting.

  • 2008 - Frankston Freeway
This project involved infill planting and maintenance.

  • 2007 - Hallam Bypass

  • 2006 - Canterbury Road
This project involved infill planting and maintenance.

  • 2005 - Western Ring Road
This project involved two formal contacts encompassing the restoration of 12km of roadside vegetation. The works were completed over a three year period. Recoland gained considerable insight into working in the roadside environment on this site. We gained two extremely favourable contract performance reports for these projects and is one of only a few landscape companies to have been trusted to work under formal contract requirements. This is a testament to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • 2008 - Pt Cook Noise Wall Treatment
Recoland designed and constructed a green wall solution for noise walls on the Westgate Freeway.

  • 2007 - Tullamarine Noise Wall Treatment

Construction of a 3m high and 20m long rock gabion retaining structures in a high landslip area for a private client.

  • Miscellaneous:
Recoland has taken on many other structural elements within its projects such as piled retaining walls, exposed aggregate concrete treatments, and park furniture installations.
  • 2008 - Calder Freeway Landscaping
This was a large scale landscape reclamation project involving the mass planting of 230,000 indigenous plants, 11km of direct seeding, and the encouragement of natural regeneration. Recoland worked closely with the main civil contractor in a back to back agreement and also liaised closely with the relevant authority to successfully deliver the project on time and on budget. Recoland is contracted for a further two years maintenance.

  • 2006 - Northern Hwy Duplication Landscaping,
Working for the main civil contractor, Recoland supplied goods and services for all landscape treatments just outside the main entrance to the small regional town of Pyalong. This included the management of native grass seeded areas, placement of habitat logs, use of recycled red gum site mulch, planting and guarding of 6000 indigenous trees and shrubs. Intensive environmental weed control was required for this site. Copious hand watering runs were required during the construction and maintenance as the work occurred during one of Victoria’s most server droughts. Michael and the team got great satisfaction from the successful outcomes for this very harsh site, in particular the incredible planting success of the locally rare Banksia marginata which are thriving on the western batters.

  • 2005 to 2010 - Northern Region Revegetation Planting Projects
Recoland has completed planted works over 75 sites within the northern region of Victoria. These sites are offset plantings associated with client vegetation removal. It is Recolands responsibility to maintain these sites to ensure the successful planning permit requirements are adhered to for our client. Recoland has succeeded in handing over projects in some of the most droughts stricken areas of the state.

  • 2004 - Private property, Kerrie Valley
Recoland completed a large scale reclamation of a denuded rural landscape and turned it into a wet valley forest. We are very proud of this project and it still brings us so much pleasure to watch the forest grow in this beautiful corner of Victoria. This was an excellent partnership with a farmer with a dream and us with the know-how. The project included planning and development to created wildlife corridors, environmental weed control  and the planting of 160 000 indigenous plants.

  • 2002 - Private property, Claksfield
This was another reclamation project similar to the Kerrie project, except in much harsher conditions.  This project included 30 000 plants.
  • Recoland Road Project2009 - Monash Freeway upgrade Landscaping
This project includes the supply and installation of 180,000 plant stock for the inside and outside of noise walls including a rainwater garden.
This was a high profile job working for two major Victorian Project Alliances. A major aspect of this job has been the ability to overcome site access issues, predominantly revolving around traffic management i.e. working at night, incredible human resource discipline, intensive project planning and overcoming working with height issues.

  • 2009 - Glen Iris Wetlands
This project involved the preparation of soils including soil stabilization, creation of recreational space, and the supply and installation of terrestrial riparian and aquatic plant species, 40,000 plants in all. This was a locally significant project along Gardiner's Creek and required very close communication with the main civil contractor, developer, project managers, local authorities and architects. We are also responsible for the maintenance for two years. Since practical completion the site has been very popular with local residents.

  • 2009 - Heatherton Road Stabilisation
This project involved the stabilsation of steep erodible cut batters. A ground breaking project involving a thoroughly well researched international method of stabilisation –involving 6000 plants. Occupational Health and Safety issues saw the use of harness anchor points to ensure the safety of workers.

  • 2008 - Frankston/Cranbourne Road, Western Port Highway Landscaping
This project involved the supply and installation of 7000m3 of mulch, environmental weed control, 110000m2 of exotic grassed areas, slope stabilisation works using organic geotextiles and recycled secondary organic materials, 10km of swale stabilisation, transplanting of locally significant flora, encouragement of natural regeneration and the planting of 145,000 indigenous plants. Works are still in progress.

  • 2007 - North Road, Narre Warren Cranbourne Road Landscape Strategy works
This is a local government project whereby as the main contractor, conforming to a formal contract, Recoland supplied and installed 4500m3 of recycled timber mulch, prepared planting beds, planted 520 advance trees and 30,000 tube stock and constructed granitic sand pedestrian paths. Recoland also consulted with the architects regarding species selection to deliver yet another project on time and on budget. Recoland completed a 13 week maintenance period.

  • 2007 - Kellets RD Duplication Landscaping
This project involved the supply and installation of 65,000 plants and associated landscape preparation treatments. Recoland successfully handed over this site in 2010. This was a great project to be associated with and had considerable local interest.

  • 2007 - Wirraway Drive Overpass Landscaping
Recoland won the contract to create the gateway to the Essendon Fields development at the Essendon Airport Site. We worked for the main civil contractor to deliver a project that had an unusually high number of stakeholders. Works included the hard and soft landscape treatments and 12 months maintenance. This project was a particularly satisfying project for a few of our local staff members who have enjoyed having a direct hand in the landscape improvements overtime. This project was handed over in 2009.

  • 2007 Janesfield Flow Control Facility, Mill Park
This project involved the creation of a recreational reserve. We supplied goods and services under a standard subcontract agreement including soil preparation, soil amendments, 20000m2 of box raking hydro seeding, 30000m2 of mulched planting beds, 5km of animal control fencing, and the planting of 20,000 indigenous plants. Recoland maintained the site for 12 months after practical completion.

  • 2006 - Mill Park Pilot Channel – planting
Recoland liaised with the main civil contractor, environmental consultants and relevant authorities to deliver a riparian planting project that also involved significant soil stabilisation using organic geotextile products. This project was successfully handed over in 2009.

  • 2001-2006 - Melbourne and Sydney Golf Courses.
